Environmental Hallmark-The Galleria is "in the green..."

Linseed oil from specially cultivated Canadian flax. Wood flour from European trees. Rosin tapped from Portuguese pine trees. Jute from India and Bangladesh. And very finely ground limestone. All Marmoleum floors are natural Forbo Flooring products. Made from materials abundant in nature and produced according to an environment-friendly procedure. Once installed, Marmoleum is hygienic and anti-static, as well as being fully biodegradable after 25 to 40 years’ use. In this way the product eventually gives its materials back to nature. Forbo Flooring therefore has an Environmental Hallmark, an independent and reliable approval for consumer products.

Marmoleum and the Asthma fund
A dust-free house is healthier for asthma patients suffering from dust mite allergy. The floor is an important factor, because lots of dust can build up there. Marmoleum is therefore a solution because it is easy to keep dust-free. Laboratory studies have also shown Marmoleum to be both anti-static and bacteriostatic: micro-organisms do not thrive easily on it, which makes the floor naturally hygienic. Forbo Flooring therefore co-operates actively with the Dutch Asthma Fund.

Maintenance and care
Simple and efficient. Forbo floors have a strong protective finish which makes cleaning and maintenance easy. Dust wiping is a quick and easy way to keep your floor dust-free.

Warranty

Marmoleum is a top product which is guaranteed to stay looking good. Provided your floor is fitted and maintained according to the Forbo Flooring instructions, it is covered by the factory’s warranty.

Marmoleum and Artoleum are the "natural" choices when health concerns are involved.

For this reason, they are broadly applied in many hospitals and classrooms, as well as being recommended by medical professionals to people with respiratory disorders.

Bactericidal Properties – Micro-organisms The bactericidal properties of linoleum prevent micro-organisms including Salmonella Typhimurium and Staphylococcus Aureus from multiplying themselves. The bactericidal properties of Marmoleum have been independently tested by both the TNO (Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research) and NAMSA (U.S.), both respected scientific institutes.

Even in the case where floor finish is applied to the product, the continued oxidation of the linseed oil will still generate this bactericidal effect.

Prevention of Dust Mites
The number of people suffering from allergic reactions to the presence of dust mites is continually increasing. The presence of these mites is one of the major causes of allergy, asthma, and other respiratory disorders. The best solution is to avoid dust. Non-textile floor coverings help to reduce the accumulation of dust and dirt.

Keeping the floor free of dust is essential because it is the place where dust tends to accumulate most. Wageningen Agricultural University (the Netherlands) has conducted a study into the mite Darmatophagoides pteronyssimus. The study included testing in both private residences (living rooms and bedrooms) and schools (classrooms), and showed that smooth floor coverings have the lowest concentrations of dust. This is the primary reason the medical profession often recommends smooth floor coverings, such as Marmoleum and Artoleum, which can be kept dust-free more quickly and easily, preventing mites from multiplying.

Anti-Static Properties
Static electricity causes electric charge to accumulate on people or objects. When discharged, this may give the well-known but unpleasant “electric shock.” Static electricity is also, however, a very strong magnet to attract and accumulate dust. Unlike most other floor coverings, Marmoleum and Artoleum possess naturally occurring anti-static properties. Not only does this reduce the potential for electric shock, but it also makes the floor easier to clean in that dust and dirt will not easily adhere to the floor.

Studies conducted by VIBA (the Netherlands Association for Integrated Biological Architecture) and the American Research Institute Stephen Halpern further underscore the anti-static properties of linoleum.
